Women’s Champion Yuki Chorney

Peyton anchored his family relay team!

After months of planning, the Inaugural Gate City Marathon & Relay was held in Downtown Nashua on Sunday.  The weather was perfect and the crowd was enthusiastically cheering on all of the athletes.  I helped at the hydration station on Main Street and got to see Men’s Champion Kevin McIntyre (3:02:27), Women’s Champion Yuki Chorney (3:28:27), and Relay Champions Fleet Feet Junior Elite (2:49:39) all cross the finish line.  All three finishes were exciting, emotional, and inspiring.  There were runners of all ages and skill level.  There were family relays and corporate teams with fun names like:

  • Run?  I thought you said RUM!
  • Moms Run This Town
  • Cirque de Sore Legs
  • I Thought We Were Going To Brunch
  • Wait This Isn’t A Parade
  • Inspired Soles

Congratulations to the organizers, sponsors, volunteers, and runners.  It was a great event.  I think I might run in the Second Gate City Marathon next year.  See you in Gate City!
